Dear
band/color guard students,
parents and faculty,
The
annual WSHS marching
band/color guard fireworks
sale begins today and
will continue every day
through July 5th.
The
doors open today at 4
p.m.
This
is the band/color guard's
single-largest fundraising
event. To be successful,
we need students and
adults to staff the sales
booth for every available
shift.
Please
stop by the fireworks
stand, beginning this
afternoon, to sign-up
for a two-hour shift.
Jim
Wykle has already put
in a tremendous amount
of effort to set this
up. He and Christine
Wykle will continue to
put in long hours, opening
and closing the fireworks
booth each day. They
need some help.
NOTE
TO PARENTS:
There
are a small number of
band/color guard parents
who volunteer for just
about every fundraising
and chore duty associated
with making money for
the band/color guard
and keeping the band/color
guard running smoothly.
There are a large number
of band/color guard parents
who rarely, if ever,
volunteer. The fireworks
sale is a wonderful opportunity
for parents who rarely,
if ever, volunteer at
band/color guard events
to put in a couple hours,
have some fun, meet other
families, and make some
money for the band/color
guard. Here's your opportunity
to show the same teamwork
and dedication your students
show through their participation
in the band/color guard
program. [Parents of
section leaders: You
might print out the note
below and hand it to
your student. If you
aren't sure if your student
is a section leader,
ask him/her. Mr. Pearman
made the announcements
at the spring picnic
but not everyone attended
the picnic and there
have been some changes/additions/deletions
since that time.]
NOTE
TO SECTION LEADERS:
Here
is your opportunity to
exercise the leadership
roles you have been given.
Sign yourself up for
a shift or two. In addition,
contact members of your
section and get them
and their families to
sign up, too. Also, each
section leader has a
list of rising freshman
band students. Please
contact those in your
section and get them
and their families to
volunteer for a shift
of two at the fireworks
stand.
NOTE
TO BAND DIRECTOR:
You
might consider using
whatever email/phone
lists available to you
to reach out to section
leaders, returning band
students and rising freshman
to get them to participate
in fireworks sales.
