Thank
you Pride & Prophecy Volunteers!
July 31, 2005 Email
A thank you from Donna and Ranelle to everyone who worked
so hard to make the “Pride & Prophecy 2005” motorcycle
and car show a success. We could not have asked for a better
or harder working group of volunteers.
Just a note of thanks and information sharing for everyone
who worked Saturday at our first-ever motorcycle and car show.
It was a positive, high-profile day for Woodbridge Senior
High School.
Leading up to the show, Donna, Ranelle and Darryl Brock
(Prophecy Motorcycle Club) personally talked to hundreds of
motorcycle and car enthusiasts, inviting them to compete in
the contest. In the weeks before our show, Donna, Ranelle and
Darryl went to many car and motorcycle shows where they handed
out 5,000 color postcards advertising our event. Mr. Brock
had e-mail contact with over 100 motorcycle clubs in the mid-Atlantic
region. Twenty-five car clubs were personally contacted. Thousands
of individuals saw our colorful sign on Old Bridge Road during
July. Twenty-thousand households in the Lake Ridge area received
delivery of the Old Bridge Observer on Saturday, July 23, which
featured a front-page article and photograph about the “Pride & Prophecy
2005” show. Fifty-thousand households in Prince William
County received the Washington Post on Sunday, July 24, which
featured an eye-catching advertisement for the show. The radio
station BIG 100.3 Oldies broadcast promotional announcement
for our event repeatedly in the week before the show. The radio
station also put us up on their web site. We were on Comcast
Studio Channel 3 several times a day for at least a week before
the show. Our event was also posted on three car calendar web
sites. Thanks to Ed Bayne, the WSHS Marching Band web site
served as a vital resource for anyone seeking full information
about the event and sponsors.
This event was more than just a car and motorcycle show.
It featured, two live bands, “ ‘Xtreme Mini Racers,” and
a stunt show by the “540 Boys.” We also had a speech
by School Board Member Grant Lattin and a visit by Prince William
County Board of Supervisors Chairman Sean Cannoughton.
We would like to publicly thank the sponsors of the
event. They were: Coca Cola; Confidence Realty and America’s
Choice of Virginia; Statements Salon and Spa; Shirt Art; Team
Sports and Awards; Salvation Army; Hooters; Devil’s Reach
Health Club.
We awarded 30 big, spectacular trophies.
In our view, the event was executed flawlessly due to
the cream of the crop volunteer parents and students – from
both the instrumental band and chorus programs - who helped
us accomplish all the many tasks that needed to be performed
at such a large-scale and complex event.
Everyone received a cool staff event t-shirt, a Famous
Dave’s BBQ sandwich or grilled hot dog.
Even though the turnout should have been higher, based
on the verbal commitments we received from numerous car and
motorcycle clubs, those competitors who came provided a flashy
display of wheels, engines, paint jobs and chrome.
Sincerely,
Donna Wheeler and Ranelle Nadea
