Instructions/Directions

Here is a basic rundown on how the Patriot Center stuff works, it looks like a lot but it really isn’t.

  • If you are not familiar with how to get to George Mason University, just take 123 north to Braddock Road, turn right onto Braddock and then turn left (almost immediately) at the first light.  This will take you into GMU.  Take your first right and park in the parking lot immediately on your right.  The entrance right across the street from this lot is the West Entrance and it is labeled on the outside of the building.
  • Park in the West Parking lot and enter through the doors on the West side of the Arena, there is normally an usher there to let you in.
  • Arrival: Please make every effort to be there by the report time, occasionally late is acceptable but it cannot become the norm.
  • Dress appropriately: wear presentable jeans or long pants not with holes or stains and close-toed shoes.  No shorts or sandals will be permitted due to health rules.  Remember, you are representing the Woodbridge Mighty Viking Band!
  • No facial piercing jewelry, while working in the stand, earrings are acceptable as long as they are not too large.
  • Every worker will wear the Ovations designated smock and hat while working in the stand. They are located at stand 12, when you enter the arena turn to your left and start walking, you will see Stand 12. Dirty uniforms and hats at the end of the night will need to be taken back to stand 12 and put in the laundry basket.
  • Report to your assigned stand and be sure to sign-in and sign-out on the clipboard.
  • Stand Manager: Every stand has a manager that will explain how the stand works and what is sold.
  • Waiting on Customers: Always be polite and courteous. Never argue with a customer and behave in a professional manner. If a customer is giving you a real problem let the stand manager handle the customer.
  • The condiments are to be put out, stocked and filled. They should be wiped down and cleaned if needed during the event.
  • Prep numbers are predetermined however when the supply gets low the stand manager needs to be informed.
  • Always use gloves!!  If you change from one job to another, making hot dogs to handling cash for instance, change your gloves.
  • Spoils and Eat: Drinking and eating are not allowed in front of customers or in the stand. You are only to eat what is in the stand you are working. NO ONE should be eating ice cream or Dippin Dots. Also, we will only be allowing Patriot Center employees 1/2 price at stands 3 and 8. If the workers have any questions please refer them to their stand manager.
  • Inventory is very important to be carefully kept. If you eat an item, you have to record the item on the Employee Eat Sheet. When you eat, write the food as a spoiled item but you do not need to record drinks.
  • Breaks: The stand manger will decide when and where breaks can be taken (only when it is slow and no one is in line).
  • Cell phones are not to be used while working in the stand. If you have an emergency call, just step out of the stand and let your co-workers know.
  • Clean Up: You are responsible for cleaning the stand and putting things away.
  • The trash needs to be put out and new bags are to be put in the trash cans. Cardboard is to be broken down and put outside the door when an event is over.
  • Counters are to be cleaned and wiped down.
  • You need to check with the stand manager to have the stand reviewed to make sure you did not miss anything before you leave.
  • How You Doing?
  • New program started by Ovations Food Services.
  • Every Ovations worker is involved (that includes our non-profit)

    The five components are.....
    1. Greet guests with a warm smile and maintain eye contact
    2. Listen to what the customer has to say
    3. Ask if you can provide directions
    4. Make sure the first impression is a great one
    5. Remember the golden rule-always treat others as you would like to be treated.

Rewards Program
