Paul Allen
VanderFord
" Mourning Discouraged, Motorcycles Encouraged"
On Dec. 2, 1966, God sent an angel named Paul Allen
VanderFord to Mr. and Mrs. Keith and Sylvia VanderFord
in Modesto, Calif. Although raised in Ceres, Calif.,
with his parents and three sisters, Carol, Joan and
Betty; his heart resides on the East Coast. After two
years of Reserve service in the California Army National
Guard he headed east to Fort Dietrich, Md., as a medical
specialist in the 153rd Medical Detachment in April
1991. He returned to Fort Dietrich after a one-year
tour in Korea ('94-'95) in which he earned the Expert
Field Medical Badge. Even though he separated from
the U.S. Army in 1997 at USAMRIID right here in Frederick,
Md., he remained in Army Medical Logistics first as
a contractor then as a civil service employee at Walter
Reed Army Medical Center and DeWitt Army Community
Hospital. He recently accepted a position at the Social
Security Administration (SSA), remaining in the logistics
field and made his roots in Hagerstown, Md.
Anyone who was blessed to be in Paul's presence knew
he was an angel walking amongst us. He was a good-hearted
person who genuinely loved people and humankind. His
greatest pride is his children, his greatest love is
his family (which included friends), his greatest passion
is his soul mate and his greatest gift was love. His
loyalty to these was absolutely paramount.
God asked Paul to use his gift to help perform a miracle,
and he did so more than willingly on the afternoon
of July 30, 2007. He selflessly gave his life to save
that of his daughter, Victoria and others around him.
Paul VanderFord is our miracle we call an Angel. He
has not left a hole in our hearts, but instead filled
them with infinite amounts of love. He is survived
by his children, Steven, Victoria, Ben, Rhiannon and
Chrystalia; and his soul mate, Tricia.
Just as Paul celebrated life, we will be celebrating
his on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, at 1100 at the Lynfield
Complex, 10142 Hansonville Road, Frederick, MD 21702,
with a viewing on Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, from 1900 to
2100 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, U.S. 15 N., Frederick,
MD 21701.
This in loving memory of the best dad, best friend,
best lover and best blessing God has bestowed upon
us.
